Couldn't make it through the gravelly, extended Josh Gad voice-over at the beginning. If you liked the book as a kid, which is what drew me, you will be rudely disappointed. Exploded dad and insane mom have been replaced with standard-issue beloved, dead mom, the whole interesting crime-family angle is totally gone. Like a thousand times before, it raises the baffling question of why someone would bother adapting this material if they aren't going to use any elements from that material. Smh.
