This movie, based on the book by Saroyan will take you on a whirlwind of emotions. I read the book first and stumbled on the movie several years later. It's a story that will stick with me always. It offers just a small slice of life but with the tragedy and tenderness that often run in tandem when a war is upon us. I still cry at the loss and smile at the love that this story offered. It's on my watch/read list!
