This is such an amazing, deeply religious and Christian movie that I have watched over and over - conversion, reconciliation, Eucharist, confession and forgiveness of unbearable sin, and finally giving one's life for one's friends so that they may be freed from evil. Walt isn't Christ, he is someone who comes to understand what his wife's Catholic faith was really about, and in the end he makes the ultimate sacrifice as Christ did, giving his broken life to heal the lives of others. It isn't about getting to know and appreciate another culture, it is about coming to love my 'neighbors', even if I can't make any sense out of their language or culture. This film doesn't hide the evil of the world, and tells the story of the true victory of love. 12/10 An absolute masterpiece.
