Tired, overused, underdeveloped formula that’s been used for at least the last 7 years. Don’t let the advertisements fool you that they’ve made meaningful changes to things like career mode - it may look like a new lick of paint, but it functions exactly the same. Press conferences and interviews that only ever ask the same 5 odd pre set questions that have no impact on anything, a new multiple choice morale system that works exactly the same as the previous morale system, no real wage budget to stick to, no FFP system in place, I can’t even add a friggen option on to a contract... this goes without saying that it’s terribly uncommon to get a premier league side score over 75 points in the league, let alone having to work out how in my first season in career mode I watched man city get relegated and Liverpool finish 10th (really?!) The presentation is now really outdated - the commentary feels rigid and unauthentic, the walkouts and pre match stuff looks and feels false (honestly, for it to be fifa 20 and you still have man united walking out at old Trafford on the wrong side of the tunnel), this is in comparison to PES that has a dramatically lower budget that tries to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Every single year I wonder to myself why I continue to buy this trash, and to be fair, EA Sports have played a blinder in acquiring exclusive licenses to pull people in. And that’s what it is, if there was an open market for licensing and PES had equal representation in this respect I think you’d see EA Sports go in to fight or flight really bloody quickly. Worst fifa I’ve played in a very long time, I wonder when it’ll end and they’ll produce a genuinely innovative sports game again.
