Ignore the bad reviews, which over-intellectualise and completely miss the point of this charming piece of escapism. Sheer delight! I only wish there were more of it. *****

Too much emotional navel-gazing and not enough sci-fi make this a disappointing and tedious watch. We are supposed to believe that the crew have been training together for 2 years but their dysfunctional relationship is unrealistic and not convincing. Some good performers battle with an unconvincing script, though Josh Charles is as wooden as ever. I found some of the characters mildly offensive in a clichéd way (the Indian doctor, the unpleasant Russian). It is very good however to see the same-sex relationship between the two Chinese women, and to see it dealt with so respectfully.

This show is a guilty pleasure! For me, Ben Miller was perfect as the "man from the ministry" lead, but Kris Marshall was charming in a different way and I warmed to him. I was never convinced by Ardal O'Hanlon and found him to be a great disappointment, but it looks as if we have a return to form with the tremendous Ralf Little. I wish however that they would vary the formula in the often weak scripts. Every murder has 4 suspects! The supporting cast are all good.

A disappointing film, mostly bland, often boring and very, very slow. Interminable close-ups of Brad Pitt's mostly expressionless face, which must take up at least 30% of the film. The plot is deeply dodgy, as is the science. Admittedly, it often looks stunning, but it feels like a short story blown out of proportion. This film is a triumph of style over substance.
