SPOILER FREE The best out of the ‘modern’ trilogy by far, but still doesn’t reach the heights of any of the original three. This film had a lot of things to love, the new characters weren’t all that bad and the action was pretty great too. The film felt a little too eager to get going at the start, but I’d argue it stuck the landing. Just. It felt predictable at times, but you ultimately wanted it to end on such a high that it satisfied your expectations, and it did for me. A few strange gimmicks here and there, with twists that didn’t feel needed, but in the end, the Rise of Skywalker is, in a word, sufficient, to end the Skywalker saga. It could be more, but it feels like enough.

Went into this film hoping it would match the quality of Superbad and be equally, if not more, funny. It failed on almost every level. Don’t bother going to see this film. About 1/10 of the jokes land, the fact that the main actors are 12 years old also means half of these jokes are: ‘They don’t know what drugs are. That’s funny’, ‘they don’t know what sex toys are. That’s funny’. It is meant to be a charming comedy following the life of a group of boys growing up, but the result you get is a rushed, cringy at times, unfunny film. 2/10.
