In the beginning of this book I was very little interested. There was no indication of where the story was going. Finch and Violet were not the type who were meant to be together. They were from two opposite poles. Yet they had something in common, the pain.
The first thing that attracted me was Finch's attempts to get Violet's attention. Later they became partners for a project, the credit goes to Finch. It is then, the story starts to move. Their chemistry and connection was very attaching. It was very nice to read about some chemistry growing slowly rather than an instant connection.
This story was an epic. It showed how you don't have to be alike to support, help and love each other. It showed how a connection can born and grow. How you don't always have to know that you were meant to be together for being together. And most importantly, how a sad ending isn't the final ending. There's more to it after that.
This story was about a social issue, depression. Such a dangerous problem and most of the time you don't know how to deal with a depressed person, no matter how much you want to. Most of the time they don't even let you get closed to them and pretend that everything's fine. They shut themselves and later make you feel like it was your fault. But it wasn't.
Jennifer Niven has written it beautifully. Her details of the characters were very much admirable. If you read as a writer, you will be amazed. It felt like she was living the story. It is one of my favorite books because of her excellent talent as a writer. I enjoyed it very much.
