This movie was unnecessary. Everybody is on the Mike Flanagan train but if you ask me, that train makes too many stops at the same station.
This movie was cliche and dull. Did the hospice office have to look just like Mr Ullman's office? No. Did they have to have that terrible version of Jack at the bar? Absolutely not.
The whole vampire story was flawed and useless. The story lacked creativity. It's one thing to write a sequel to the novel. But to make a cinematic sequel to the first film and not stay true to it, the classic that it is, was sinful. I'm glad Stanley Kubrick isn't around to see the mess that was made.
This film shouldn't have been made but they at least could have given it to a director with more of a style that can at least keep up with Kubrick. Yorgos Lanthimos would have nailed a sequel to the Shining.
