This is one of my all time favorite television series. There is a warmth and a charm throughout the whole series. The humor is also very warm and sometimes hilarious and brings on bright chuckles. Also the laugh track is more subtle than in most television comedies and does not intrude itself on the show in a distracting fashion. The plot is charming and there is some serious wisdom portrayed, particularly by the character of the ghost, the captain. The actors are each wonderful. Charles Nelson Reilly is his ever effusive funny self. Hope Lange is just beautiful and plays someone real and human. Reta Shaw is pure fun as the nanny character. The children are ... well, darling. And Scruffy the dog expresses himself as a well trained professional actor. :->) But Edward Mulhare is outstanding in his portrayal of Captain Gregg. He is remarkable in his playing a nuanced character full of poise, flaws, foibles, wit and honor. So sad that there were only two seasons of this gem of a television series.
