Sarah Christensen (ONELuckyDuck)

This movie has huge heart, well written music and fun. The cast is stellar and well worth a couple hours. It's not for little tots and is a firm PG13 due to some grown up humor and dance performances. I enjoyed Pierce Brosnan very much in his role as Erick, the father of Will Ferrell's Lars. I hope he takes on more roles with comedy or drama and I think he has more to offer than just looks. Plus he's got that hot DILF energy with a beard. I wish Ferrell would be offered more roles in drama (not a dig at his comedy) just that he has a way of showing vulnerability and warmth without being sappy. Rachel McAdams is good at this too but she is eddortless at funny and sweet.

Upfront, this movie has battle scenes and gun violence. There is gore. A few scenes are almost Tarantino level. But I found the more difficult scenes were watching one of the characters constantly grapple with his PTSD due to what he lived with for years after. The movie is worth seeing, 4 black Vietnam vets return to Vietnam for a final adventure to find their friend whose body along with a treasure from a plane crash was left behind in the jungle. The cast was solid, the script was solid, the direction was intentional. It left me thinking about themovie. I think I'll watch it again soon.
