Went in for Oppenheimer already frustrated, a three-hour movie with slow-paced action was the narrative after the first day. The frustration skyrocketed when we entered the theatre because the projection was 2K, the screen size was average and the audio, was 5.1, in 2023, for a ticket we spent 250₹!
However, it didn't take much time for all the frustration to vanish as it did soon after the film started rolling. From shot one, Nolan and his troop were on point. The non-linearity in the storytelling was the best I've ever seen. It was not difficult at all to stay connected to the story, kudos to Jennifer Lame (editor) and Chris Nolan himself.
While RDJ and Cillian Murphy were as good as we expected them to be, Emily Blunt was the one who surprised me with her stunning and powerful performance. The audience was such idiots that there were not enough cheers for her dialogue at the end where she testifies.
Contrary to the narrative, the dialogues are not boring if you pay attention. Infact, it's one of the most gripping parts of the movie. The screenplay is not sophisticated if you have a basic understanding of Quantum physics. It is not going to intimidate you.
The visuals are just breathtaking! Not sure if any digital camera would do justice to this screenplay as the IMAX film cameras did. The film look goes hand in hand with this period film and it's a win for Nolan's stubbornness with using IMAX cameras.
You may not have access to the 15 perf, 70mm projection or the Dolby Atmos audio but you got to experience this in the best possible set-up you can; because this movie deserves nothing less.
