So, Spec Ops The Line. A game that very well might stand the rest of time. Throughout the course of the game you follow the main Character Captain Walker and his crew of two as they make their way through a “deserted” city of Dubai. They encounter many disturbing things along their journey and they have to make countless sacrifices in order to survive. But it seems the further Walker and his crew make their way into the heart of the city, he slowly begins to lose control of his mind and soul.
This game is unlike any other game that I have played. Sure the graphics aren’t up to date, but what can you really say about that. This game is heavily based upon the Vietnam War Film “Apocalypse Now” directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and the novella “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad. In the film we follow an army captain who is given a mission to assassinate a rouge army colonel named Kurt’s. As the film progresses, Willard, our main character slowly begins to lose himself in his mission and begins to realize that he is no different than his target.
Overall, this game is phenomenal and is definitely worth a play through even after 8 years passed its release. I got lost in the story so many times I lost count. 4/5 stars because nothing is perfect.
