Roger Spottiswood directed "Under Fire" deftly. The cast: Jean-:Louie Trintignante, Nick Nolte, Joanna Cassidy and Gene Hackman -- is excellent and their acting makes it all seem real. I was drawn in to the premise (partly because I am a sympathizer to rebels who fight against dictatorships such as Simoza; but also due to the realistic but romanticized portrayal by these fine actors. It was a rarity which drew on a factual war of resistance to the cruelty of the dictator...but captured my imagination as well.
