Spoiler warning. Some of the atmospheric shots were good. I was slightly interested in the magic powers, but they didn't go into it enough. That's all that redeems this movie for me.
The dialogue was pretty bad. The story was bland and uninteresting. I felt zero connection to the characters, except maybe the father who died anyways and played no role.
There were many weird scenes. Scenes that were laughably weird. Why were they whispering to each other 20 feet away in the fog? Why was he standing there awkwardly with his hand in a box?
I kept waiting for it to pick up. It felt the whole time as if the story was about to pick up and find my interest. But it never did. An hour and a half in, we checked how much time was left. We joked about how much longer was left. I actually dreaded having to finish.
I'm not even picky. I like good movies and I like okay movies. Something about this one was just terrible. Laughably terrible. I am genuinely confused about what other people saw that I didn't see. I am so confused that I'm going to watch it again to make sure.
