It was grim and violent but compelling and powerful in equal measures. Hard to achieve that balance. A simply magnificent lead performance by Phoenix. He must get the Oscar for this. He was both touchingly vulnerable and totally menacing. A very frightening and extremely tense masterpiece. stunningly menacing and vulnerable at the same tome.
