A sparkling romantic comedy starring Tyrone Power and Linda Darnell (then only 15 years old but pretending to be 20-something). This film is as seductive as vintage champagne. It is a film that attempts to answer the question: why do married men find their secretaries so alluring? Linda Darnell takes no prisoners in her battle to teach Tyrone Power (her husband) a lesson he will not forget. Warren William plays the lecherous boss with impeccable charm and savoir faire. One of the very best romantic comedies!

This movie has a terrific cast and many interesting scenes. However, its relentless darkness wears the viewer down...It grasps for existential truths that it can't quite reach. In fact, that may be the point of the story (or stories)...The ending attempts to reach the high ground of hope, and it is surprising, if not entirely convincing. I would not be surprised if Powder Blue becomes a classic that is appreciated primarily by film students....

The first seven episodes provide reasonably good entertainment. However, episode 7 (Hers Was a World of One) is much more complex than it seems on first viewing --it is more than a romantic comedy. There are very dark, disturbing questions lurking below the surface: Why are homeless women giving their children away to wealthy couples? Are the poor (homeless) so mentally unstable that they cannot raise their own children? Must their children be rescued by wealthy men who describe themselves as "capitalists"? This episode is bubbling with Dickensian themes...

Solid acting and directing. This is a good example of how to make interesting movies without relying on high budget gimmicks.
