I have been to Enugu State once and I love the city and long to visit again. Seeing the movie Lionheart, made me feel I was present in that city despite worlds apart. The roles played by various Nigerian star celebrities were performed superbly unlike any 'Nigerian film' put together, where the celebrities still portray their real life personality no matter how hard they try not to. Genevieve's reputation in reality as an icon in the industry was inherent in Lionheart as she played the role of Adaeze so well I forgot who was real among the two. Much less Onyeka Onwenu, Mr P and Phyno, Africa's star artists in the Music Industry who played their roles as professional actors and actresses would, those people were dope. Now apart from being professional musicians, they are obviously now professional actors and actress too. The movie's soundtrack, excellent. Well sort out Nigerian songs. (Off record, I definitely heard Psquare's danger instrumental and that fit in well into the scene. The soundtracks kept me watching and gripped me with joy.)
Take note I disrelish films that come out of the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood because everything about acting is taken to the most extreme when it comes to playing a simple role. As normal people, these set of individuals, though not all specifically, hardly lead such lives in reality but when it comes to acting, they become overdramatic in conversations, arguments and personal thoughts.
Now, here comes Adaeze in Lionheart and not to forget all the entire cast; Nkem Owoh, Peter Edochie, Kanayo O Kanayo, Chika Okpala, Jesmima Osunde, Kalu Ikeagwu and many more who played it how it's done and brought the cinematography to an heroic end. Genevieve Nnaji, you did a great job. I look forward to this change in future Nollywood flickers.
