I'm a little disappointed because I was really excited for this show to happen, and I really want to like it. I thought the fact that Riordan was so involved with the making of the show would have positive effects on the finished product. I guess there is some truth to this. Yet, Riordan disappoints in several aspects. There are some really great things about the show and others are baffling while others are just horrible. I understand that things don't translate to the screen exactly from the books. But I expected the portrayal of the characters to be more accurate. Many people have stated that Gabe is a disaster, which he is. I'm not sure what they were going for with Sally, but she's not the character I remember from the books. I don't know what to say about Annabeth. She was one of my least favorite characters from the books, which I'm sure may be an unpopular opinon, but it's mine. And yet I feel the actress is not doing the character justice. Maybe she just needs more time to warm up, but her acting is stilted at best, which is a shame. I'm glad I didn't reread this book series in preparation for this show. I feel as though I would have been upset just as several others are due to inaccuracies between the show and its source material. Instead I can enjoy it somewhat. I really think they did an awesome job with the actor choices for Percy, Grover, and Chiron. These are all talented actors. I was pleasantly surprised with Aries and even Clarisse. Luke is pretty good as well. I mean the show is okay. I enjoy watching it for the most part. But it could definitely be better.

The plot and acting is underwhelming. I really wanted to like this show; I was super stoked that Ahsoka was going to get her own show. Now, not so much. Hera, one of my favorite characters, is just bland. I don't understand why all of the female actresses walk in, through, around rooms/the set as though they own everything. That is not the way to make a character look commanding or for the character to exude strength. Where are the male characters/actors? I only counted one worth mentioning which is Ray Stevenson. I mean this feels like the show is promoting an agenda instead of telling a well-told story. Just not a fan. :(

The movie doesn't have an identity. It tries too hard to be an extension of the first trio but then change everything we know. Also, (spoiler alert) Trinity's new-found abilities have no logical lead in. We are asked to believe that she can all of the sudden do all of the Matrix "rule bending and breaking" Neo could do, including fly, but he could no longer do this? Too unbelievable.

I've not read the books but the show is addictive. I can't wait until next Friday! Addition: After reading through some of the reviews, I can't tell if some of the more harsh reviews have merit or are just being contrary for the sake of being contrary. Many state the character development is poor. I disagree. Are some characters annoying? Absolutely. However the show is only 4 episodes along. How much character development should there be at this point? The more main characters there are the longer it will take to develop them. Just like when reading a book, which several negative commenters have claimed to have done, character development doesn't all happen at once. Again, the negative views make me question the validity of the review. Is it a fair criticism or just negativity because that's the fashion of the time? I personally believe the show has merit, and while it isn't perfect, it's getting better with each episode.

This movie is gritty and moving. It is a real look at the character of the Joker that is not the silly cartoon version we are used to seeing. The movie is real and shines a much needed light on just what mental illness is and how the mentally ill can be viewed by society. If Warner Brothers continues to produce these villian focused, dark films, they could really answer the fickle Marvel universe of movies with real, thought provoking cinematic films.
