I will not provide a lengthy discussion based upon this movie, however I will make a few statements based on how I viewed the movie. I first watched Brother Bear when I was in nappies and it has remained one of my main Disney favourites. The first movie was an amazing story which showcases the beautiful relationship between two characters created by heartbreaking circumstances which finishes with the two characters accepting each other because they recognise how and why they need each other. The second movie focuses on a concept that seems to be a focus point for many Disney sequels, gotta give a main character that love interest. In the case of Brother Bear 2, I believe that this concept, whilst over-utilised in other sequels really works well into the narrative and provides growth opportunities for all characters. It is my belief that many Disney sequels tend to fall flat on their face, but in the case of Brother Bear 2, there seems to be a natural progression of story. Brother Bear 2 is not an amazing film, nor is it a terrible film, instead it falls a little bit lower compared to the original. Brother Bear 2 misses some heart shattering moments due to the songs implemented, and it is just me, but I think the Phil Collins songs hit a lot harder that the songs in Brother Bear 2. For those wanting a natural progression of life story, Brother Bear 2 is worth a watch.
