So, my guilty pleasure is shows with great music, or just a bunch of very good singing with a story to tie it together. I actually like musical shows like Perfect Harmony, GLEE and SMASH, even if the stories aren't always great. The range of vocal talents are the draw, right? But, what if the improbable story is deep and dark, while managing to be comical and uplifting? Here is a stronger, emotionally challenging musical drama that didn't just strike a chord on my heartstrings, it nearly yanked my heart out of my chest! Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist deftly covered a very wide range of tunes and feelings in the pilot. I can't wait to see where this show takes me next!
