This series seriously screwed me up bad. But in the absolute best way possible. I NEVER write reviews for anything I purchase, but Neal Shusterman is just that good of an author that I couldn’t help but spread the word as much as I can. This series will 100% make you question just about everything in life. From what it means to truly be alive, to when death occurs, to what happens to your soul when your parts are divided into the bodies of others, to who can have control over their own bodies/if people should have control, and so on and so forth. I have never really been a big book reader, but when reading this series it truly didn’t feel to me as if I was reading anything. It became an immersive world that I was living in along with Neal’s characters and it was as if I could feel what they were feeling. His characters are SO well written that you truly grow and attachment to them and you want to meet them in real life because it’s as if you’ve known them forever. The last book in the series Undivided was in my opinion the best out of the 4. The bar was already set so extremely high and I didn’t think the final book of the series would be able to do much justice to all the other events that occurred in the previous books, but boy was I wrong. Shusterman left so few loose ends untied and he truly is a genius with an absolutely sick and twisted mind. I have heard that a TV show is currently in development for this series and I pray to God that it pulls through, because I would love nothing more than to see his characters and his story come to life and to put a name to a face. I also love how this series touches on so many ethical issues that are more prevalent than ever during these times. I know these books are labeled as being for young adults, but that’s no excuse for someone of any age not to read them. Seriously, whoever you are, whatever your age is, whatever your belief system is, READ. THESE. BOOKS. I PROMISE you that you will not regret it. His last book was one of the only books to ever make me cry because of how devastating it was. Yet the ending was so beautiful I couldn’t be disappointed. It’s one of those series that will make you think about it for months and months long after you’ve finished the last book. I never thought words on paper could effect me in such a profound way and truly change my perspective on life, but Neal proved me wrong. So, with all this being said, do not waste any more time and buy these books now. Do not hesitate in the slightest bit. These books will 100% change your life, and that is no exaggeration.
