30 bucks for a game that triple a companies would shell out at 60 and release complete Editions at 80 bucks. It's a game that prioritizes each aspect of the characters from the merry men of Robin Hood.
In Simple terms:
Robin is the sniper. One hit one kill if you can manage it.
John is the tank. A two light hit combo with a optional heavy, can catch people running and block ranged attacks and play
Marianne is the assassin. mainly used for DPS in a fight or utility which can allow her to assassin any target in the smoke bomb.
Tooke is the other melee, but his flail gives him subtle range. Catching players off guard and providing over all melee support.
Every character can do the essentials, if you're crouching you can assissinate any person from behind. Every character may carry the chest and every character can do basic two hit attack.
A lot of players these days need constant stimulation of goodies with controls they want in a belief that the original game they are thinking was the god tier, unfortunately anything in a pvp setting has to be tweaked entirely different. The game retains some semblance of their inspiration but has to make adjustments in a more compatible varient with a simple attack button.
The most sufferable thing is the Player to player connection. In not sure if they didn't get proper funding for dedicated servers due to something with the publisher but it can cause some serious connection stability issue.
The biggest difference is a team comp, you can stack up and pick any player you. Like, though with how the maps are set up, You could be trapped in a sufferable situation without the right character. A melee is always going to be required as well as Robin or Mareinne to interrupt.
People want to compare this game to for honor, which has a entire different style and gimmick, the combat doesn't compare as the matches are meant to be viewed as more of a each character specializes but requires the other, although simple arcadic action, such as team fortress.
The game has some map issues and more often it will turn into a team deathmatch near the end, with each death extending your respawn timer until a point it's impossible to reach the chest in time alone.
The gold balancing seems a bit odd and will most likely be tweaked, if the developers he the appropriate support and approval, we could be looking at a game that flies above the average chart even if it's a niche market at first.
People often forget that For Honor had the most abyssmal and brutally rated game with so many horrid bugs and issues on release, it's been bashed and trashed for 6 years now and still is pumping out endless contents of sludge.
While Hood only has the main important casts from the band, I'm sure they'll add improvements tweaks and new ideas. It's a super entertaining bit of game and we need to ensure unique games thrive so we can develop even better versions.
