There is no other actor who could do this role. Phoenix is an exceptional actor complete with the perfectly matched expressions. Very intriguing.

Dumbo was fun and definitely entertaining. Michael Keaton is one of the best actors we have, but this was not his role. He had no great lines and did not fit this part. I would have cast Christoph Waltz or Christopher Walken. On another note why does Disney keep having mothers deceased at the beginning of their two big movies this year? It is not a conducive part of the script. They could have kept her in. It saddens the movie for many children. Again (as with “Mary Poppins Returns,”) I am not quite sure of the audience Disney was aiming towards; definitely no one under 8.
