The costumes, sets and effects are lovely ... And that is the only reason why I gave it a 3. The plot is exceedingly muddled and all over the place, often over-wrought and has no shortage of the standard narrative. Maybe they will pull it together by episode 2 but I am not holding out too much hope.

I think that this show tried to take on too much. The main characters, while adeptly played and likeable enough, were thin on real character development and placed in situations that weren't cohesive enough to pull the whole season together. The side plots were even less fleshed out and disjointed, often stretching suspension of disbelief to the limit. If you are a fan of action for action's sake, you might like it. Otherwise, watch old 24 reruns.
