This movie is hilarious, emotional, creative, has great characters, messages and is very well animated.
Puss in Boots went through a good character arc of learning not to fear death and make meaningful relationships with other people, even if those other people aren't human. Perrito is the defintion of "ignorance is bliss" and is a likeable, funny ball of optimism. Oh, and the scene where he calms Puss in Boots down from a panic attack? Emotional... and from what I hear, it was also quite accurate to what panic attacks are like. Even Kitty Softpaws was quite fun.
Oh, but of course, the characters everyone remembers are the villains! The Big Bad Wolf (I could use his other name, but I don't wanna get into spoilers yet) was surprisingly intimidating for a family film, but in a fun way. Goldilocks and the three bears were so sympathetic that they're really more like anatagonists or rivals to the heroes. Oh, and
L-BIG Jack Horner? Sure, he's not at all complex, but his brand of pure evil was pretty fun to watch and we haven't had a villain like that in a animated film from the west in a while.
Oh, and the animation is a mix of a beautiful painting and into the spider-verse, but much better than into the spider-verse (at least in my opinion).
I'm not sure whether to give this a 9/10 or a 10/10, but either way, it's a 5/5. If you haven't seen it and what I said sounds interesting to you, I higly recommend nit, especially if you're a Shrek fan... but even if you're not. There's even a short to catch you up on the events of Puss In Boots 1.
Now, can we get into spoilers? Okay, here they are:
Big Jack Horner (I got it right this time, phew, I may live another day) didn't get any sort of redemption, sure, but again, we haven't had a villain that's just pure evil all the time in a animated film from the west in a while.
Oh, and the ending was touching and that tease for a possible Shrek 5? I admit, I'm interested.
