I was scared out of my wits watching this film! Very effective acting, cinematography, direction, music, etc. And while Jess didn't make the safest choices, I felt that those choices reflected how women have been encouraged from an early age to be "nice" and "sweet," and even that NOT being "nice" may make a man angrier. Moreover, women's fears are sometimes dismissed by the men in their lives as being silly or even crazy. So it's understandable that Jess ignored her instincts and took the "right" course of action so as to be a "good girl." By the end, she had obviously grown up.
