A decent movie on a difficult subject marred by bad writing and a grievous mistake in casting of Zen McGrath as the teenage son.
Even if one believes the implausibility of the well resourced parentsโ inaction given their sonโs problems - the boyโs acting is so bad it makes his potrayal of the serious mental illness potrayed in the film seem more like low- level spoiled brat tantruming and manipulation of idiotic parents. The crying scenes by this actor were especially bad and this is glaring when juxtaposed with Hugh Jackmanโs solid emotional performance.
Overall its hard to imagine that this movie was created by the same mind behind โ The fatherโ. That movie was nuanced, well thought out, complex and incredibly well acted. Its still worth watching with managed expectations.
