The movie was made for loyal Sonic The Hedgehog fans and for kids. I loved the experience I had at the movie theater, seeing kids wearing Sonic the Hedgehog shirts and bringing their toys. Everyone at the movie theater was cheering for Sonic throughout the movie, something that I've only experience with MCU movies.
We see Sonic adapting to Earth and developing a sense maturity throughout his quest to become a hero. The introduction to Tales and Knuckles into Sonic's life was so well done, giving background story for both characters without overwhelming the plot.
Ben Schwartz as Sonic's voice gives a playful, charismatic vibes, just as the Sonic we know from the video games. I loved the reference that was made to Parks and Rec's Jean Ralphio, which gives you an idea of how fun this movie is. Edris Elba's voice gave Knuckles a stubborn/ strong personality and yet you end up loving Knuckles as much as you love Sonic and Tales. I do not see anyone else playing Dr. Eggman as accurately as Jim Carrey and it's probably one of the best casting ever made in the history of movies.
There's a lot or references to the video games and I loved how well Integrated all the elements of the movie was with secondary characters' story line. This movie left me wanting for more and I can't wait to see what's next for Sonic and his friends.
