This is the first Paper Mario game that I have played. After recently playing through Yoshis Crafted World and Mario Odyssey, this game feels like a real slog. While my 5 year old could play through Crafted World and Odyssey on his own, the fight mechanics of Origami King are too challenging. The fight mechanics feel novel at first but quickly become tiresome. I run away from enemies just to avoid yet another fight sequence. Things that would improve the game would be an additional couple of settings to modify the fighting based on player skill - remove patterns, adjust or eliminate the time clock, or allow the fight to be bypassed altogether if you hit the enemy with a hammer before engaging. Probably not the worst game, but I feel confident that the designers didn't do a thorough job play testing this game. I would not recommend this game.
