The idea was good. Execution was horrible: most of the singers chose selections that were beyond their talent. Why that was allowed to happen begs an enquiry. Josh Groban attempting "Its Now or Never", Urban's atrocious take on "Burning Love", for example, were neither creative interpretations nor offered a clue of Presley's genius to those who were being exposed to him for the first time. It was clear no one appears to have thought through what the show was intended to achieve and then measured to see, as it was being planned, if it would deliver against it. Consequently, it was an utter failure. An excellent idea that should be redone.
