Please ignore the pretentious 1 star/poor reviews from the contrarians, it’s very clear that many of those people are bashing & nitpicking the film simply because it’s popular right now. Aside from that, you can tell that Ryan Coogler thoroughly did his research for the makings of this film, & it all tied & blended together very well. It’s not just a “vampire movie,” there’s so much symbolism & clear messages within it. It’s a perfect blend of horror & drama with history attached. Furthermore, the ancestor juke joint dance scene that was done in one shot take was one for the books - a scene any lover of the art of filmmaking can appreciate. I’d say this is MBJ’s best performance compared to his others. The cinematography & visuals were gorgeous, with compelling character dynamics as well as a beautiful score by Ludwig. There’s no way you can watch this film & genuinely rate it a 1/10.
