It took me three consecutive days to finish "Sad Girls" by Lang Leav (it demands so much energy). Another young adult novel which has another romantic end, sounds cliches. Anxiety is this common word which is tossed around causally in conversations but, I think most us don't understand what anxiety really is and how it feels (Around 284 million people suffer from anxiety in world). I like how Lang Leav described anxiety. The feeling of dread, uneasiness, fear, restlessness are well portrayed through Aurdery. Other than this, Lang repeatedly ignores other characters in story and there is no growth. At a particular moment I feel like, the author is trying hard to make sure, that there is growth in Audrey's character but, it's futile because, She goes back in that toxic cycle.
The story line kinda feels absurd, like "Why would you tell a lie about someone you barely know? What kind of instant connection you feel with a person you saw for first time and is infact dead girl's boyfriend? There is this cheating part, which was actually glorified (cheat first and find fault in your partner). I never understand the need to cheat on your partner whom you claim to be in love. What is this god damm need? It will be easier to say, "this is not working out let's over this", Instead of letting them be heartbroken over the fact their partner cheated on them.
*Deep breaths*
I don't understand the need of happy ending, it turns out to be so toxic. Last words from the epilogue where the author described love as destroying yourself for the person. How could this be love? *Chills* so, let's end this here with closing quote from book.
" But you can’t make people listen."
*Please, tell me where the characters get this money without working so that I can also run away in woods. *
