Colourful cinematography
Production standards are high
Performances are neat
But these are minimum expectations from a Nayanthra movie....
What about the rest like
Good story
engaging screenplay - twists,etc
Good music
Unfotunately none of that exists...
The movie is preachy... but is not preaching to all people but to only one particular community. There are Orthodox sects under all religeons, but here one particular sect under H1ndus is being shown as narrow-minded, regressive, male-dominated,etc while the male protagonist who saves her is from another religeon, sects of which are equally regressive if not more, and preaches to her on what is right & wrong in H1nduism (??!).
It doesn't work as a story as the disconnect from reality is too great. Filled with stereotypes and caricatures. The world has changed a lot, but maybe the director didn't notice due to his self-induced coma.
The script seems like it was written over a few drinks. No homework whatsoever. Wonder what the production company saw in this movie that prompted them to fund this lousy script.
Nayan can be a lady superstar without being preachy or hurting one people's sentiments thinking it will endear her to another people. There are so many emancipation stories that could have been made, but she chose this for her 75th. Disappointing.
