Honestly, about 10 min into this I was already over it. The movie poses some fun questions like "what is anime?" but doesn't actually answer it.
I get that Netflix used someone who's new to anime so that it could maybe give the experience of learning to love anime all over again but... It failed horribly.
There are some good aspects since we get to hear from some anime creators (kinda sad that she didn't also include others who made older anime. Like those from Ghibli studio )
Anime and the creators of it were called sick, twisted and deranged (7:45). Which I think is a bit offensive.
Most importantly she focused on the gore and quirky parts of anime instead of other genres which make anime a masterpiece of different ideas.
I do understand that it is difficult to do a documentary on something you have almost no idea about. I think this had a lot of potential and was turned into something that seemed like a commercial for the anime on Netflix
