I had never had the opportunity to see the musical Cats. Missed it when it came to our city a couple of years ago. Have seen parts of it on PBS. When the movie came out this December 2019 I was determined to see it. Now, I have read the reviews for it and I have to disagree with the unfavorable criticisms. The review from the person saying he didn’t know what the heck was going on obviously didn’t know anything about the musical or movie beforehand. I thought the mannerisms & movements of the cats were spot on and I loved their twitching ears whiskers and the movement of their tails. That being said, I found the more realistic look and movement of all the cats intriguing as opposed to the 1980’s Cats. Incidentally seeing the movie before the live musical probably has changed my view of which I would enjoy seeing more. I probably would lean more toward the movie now. As far as the singing, dancing & acting, I believe the cast in both the musical & the movie was amazing.
