Schindler's List," directed by Steven Spielberg is one of the most embodied, profound powerful epics that I have watched. The cinematography brings you in as if you are there at that time. The clothing of that era was superbly created and the characters that the actors portray is astounding. My great grandmother is German Jew. She was brought to the United States when she was two years old which was five years before the Holocaust happened. Her parents told my grandmother many stories about that time in Europe which my grandmother told us. I didn’t understand its significance until I was an adult. Those stories that were told was the time that it was unfolding. I never learned what happened to my great grandmother’s parents. My great grandmother spoke very seldom but she was loving. She was never reunited with her parents. This is such a heart wrenching story and I’m so thankful that my great grandmother did not have to endure these horrific events told in the movie. After watching this incomparable movie I watched PBS’ ‘The U.S. and the Holocaust’ television series. It’s unimaginable that this even occurred! I’m grateful to Steven Spielberg for giving us this historical story because I never knew the extent of how horrible, evil and cruel a nation could be.

This movie represents how living a hard, callous life in war and after, one can find forgiveness. A lot of real dialogue of the Indian’s native language is used in many scenes. Great cinematography, characters are believable as they journey through danger, murder and living in the open. A very moving story well played.
