You don't have to shout to touch the soul. Mogwai know that. They always have. For those who caught Young Team and just heard noise, this will seem like a half-learned lesson in maturity. For those of us who LISTENED from the outset, this is just a different version of their beautiful. It's gorgeous, it really is.

it's so cold, it's like the cold if you were dead, then you smiled for a second. i queued outside jumbo records in leeds for this vinyl on the day of release. i had only heard just like heaven on a tinny pub speaker to that point. it changed my life. it totally changed my life. kiss me is better, pornography is better still, but prayers for rain turned my head inside out and ripped my heart to shreds. some musicians re arrange chords, some re arrange words. and just one re arranges our world without our permission. thank you, robert, you changed my life.

I come from the land of Robert Smith, Pale Saints, Pixies, Interpol and all those wonderful indie bands of the 80s and 90s; I also inhabit the land of Burial, Recondite, Skee Mask and other electronic gods. Music is my religion. And right now, I'm at the altar of Fews. Into Red is on repeat and has been for 4 days. I cannot get away from it. I don't want to. This is visceral. This is disturbing. This is brilliant. I'll be at The Lending Rooms in three weeks. The time cannot pass fast enough. The best album I've heard all year. And there have been some belters.
