When, when, when is Tosh going to grow a backbone? I loved her in the original Shetland series because she was determined to be more than the token woman on the force. This new series stalls because Tosh isn't being the DI whom Jimmy Perez thought she could be and the DI she herself was determined to be. The hangdog looks, backing down when she's challenged, the "take it on the chin" attitude when someone 's snarky to her is so disappointing. No one wants or expects her to be like Calder, but she has to grow into her new role and act as if she's the lead dog - because that's what she's supposed to be. C'mon, Tosh!
