This memoir is of Herzog 's self styled pilgrimage which he undertook in the late fall of 1974 from Munich to Paris to the bedside of his ailing friend, Lotte Eisner. He believed that tramping through adversity would " bring her back " to health ;
besides, he writes, " I wanted to be alone with myself ".
As rightly said, this is "a book of lifetime which makes you walk for lifetime".
