While it may have been an entertaining film, the apparent misogyny is undeniable. I find the lack of proper female representation absolutely disgusting. The women in this movie were either to be love interests or overly emotional. The main love interest, Zulfa, was directly insulted for her looks as a kid by the protagonist and STILL liked him. In reality, that behavior is unacceptable and Cassim only liked her for her looks. The romance was really just there to give him a โhappy endingโ and it was as if getting his dream girl was a prize. That she WAS the prize. Iโm sorry, but the blatant objectifying of this woman is horrifying. Not to mention that in Islam men are supposed to lower their gaze and RESPECT women, while Cassim did the exact opposite. He bases his entire comedic routines around being Muslim, yet doesnโt uphold the Islamic values. Also, the way that Cassimโs father treated his wife is entirely unacceptable. As I mentioned before, Muslim men need to RESPECT their wives, and he was cruel and unforgiving towards her. Overall, there is no possible way that I can appreciate a movie that encourages toxic masculinity in such a manner. I would not recommend watching this for the purpose of it enforcing patriarchal ideals.
