Now, like many a Star Wars fan, we had all written ourselves how the saga should end. Therefore it was very unlikely anyone would have been completely satisfied with the ending (apart from JJ himself). However, as endings go this is pretty good. The movie itself has an undulating rhythm which helps move the story on at a pace that keeps you engaged despite the length: my 9 year was transfixed throughout. Like all great journeys, it ends where it all began with the hint a new journey is about to begin. There is action and adventure, love and loss, villainy and heroism. Rey, Poe and Finn's characters really develop and they are joined by some old friends and new faces. But it is C3-PO, who has been the narrator throughout, who gets his moment to shine. Though none of the movie since Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back have quite recaptured the magic, The Rise of Skywalker ain't half bad.
