I really didn't like this film. In the beginning, I was digging it and thought it was very interesting, especially with the different cultures within Brooklyn and the differences between every race. But towards the end, I felt like it just reinforced the stereotype that black people don't change. When the altercation occurred resulting in Radio Raheem's death, which was the police's fault, the black community decided to riot and destroy an Italian business. Radio Raheem died because he and another black guy decided to boycott the pizzeria simply because it didn't have black people on the Wall of Fame. Every time Radio Raheem went into the pizzeria, he would blast his music, and the owner, Sal, would respectfully ask him not to. Raheem didn't like that response and attacked Sal, who feeds the whole black community with his pizza. The police came to break up the fight and ended up killing Radio Raheem. Instead of blaming the police, the black community blamed Sal and destroyed his business. It was disappointing to see the film's message about promoting awareness on discrimination and violence and doing the right thing, but the plot and the characters' actions conveyed the opposite message.
