Lots of spoilers here. This movie was horrible. As many have said it had a great deal of good ideas but none were executed well (psychiatrist angle, sedating the characters in a matrix setting again, etcโฆ). None of the characters were developed enough to care about them. Characters from the last movies that were tied in (smith, Niobe, etc..) all had major flaws. Iโm sure the action scenes and cinematography style has a fancy name but to me it was the opposite of the 360 degree camera set up the original matrix movie used. You can call it meta all you want itโs still broken and confusing. I did fall asleep for 20 minutes but Iโm pretty sure it never really explained why Trinity now has similar powers to Neo (which is a cool idea). The most intriguing idea that was introduced was how machines had been changed by Neoโs efforts and sacrifice in the revolutions movie. This actually is a profound Avenue to explore and actually makes the Revolutions movie much more meaningful in my mind. BUT of course they didnโt follow this thought out really at all and it was just a side note to endless odd story lines. I think there is one thing that shows the lack of a commitment to truly tie things together in a congruent and inventive way is Sati. This is a small thing but I think it is a good representation of what was wrong with the storyline of this movie. Bringing Sati into this movie was a great idea. That being said the dialogue said this is sixty years after revolutions which would make Sati like 68. She was played by a 38 year old actress that appeared to be 38 (umโฆokay). Cool idea but not fleshed out well at all. In closing I will review all four moviesโฆ.. Matrix-Unbelievably Amazing, Reloaded-Very Cool, Revolutions-Forgettable, Resurections-Confusing and Lame.
