This movie defiles everything the previous films showed to real Star Wars fans, no matter how good the visual and audio effects were. The Last Jedi was just a true Disney film, but not a Star Wars film. While the Force Awakens may have been a decent carbon copy of A New Hope, this film is something that spits on Star Wars, degrading Luke Skywalker, the original Jedi hero, to the point where he would throw his own father's lightsaber over a cliff like it was an unwanted toy. But Leia still was the charming woman we all know and love, so no harm there. Not to mention Yoda completely destroyed the "Sacred Jedi Texts" held in the tree on Ach-To, the Wills. He would, as the last true Jedi Grand Master, protect the the last evidence of the Jedi who came before. There was no logic to why he destroyed them. We would expect him to stop Luke, make him regret his decision to try to do it. "Do or do not, there is no try" should only be "do not" in this case.
In the whole "Poe has a mutiny" side story, Admiral Hodo refuses to tell anyone the plan on how they are going to survive. Poe mutinies because he doesn't believe there is a plan, which leads to Finn and Rose to go to the weird casino planet Canto Bight and eventually accidentally tip off the First Order to the actual plan. Meanwhile, Leia tells Poe on the transport ship that there was a plan and Poe, Finn, and Rose had just doomed like 90% of the Resistance. The moral of that story is to blindly follow orders. That is a moral that you would see from the First Order, not the Resistance.
And how they treated Snoke was atrocious. The hype raised about him was ended so abruptly, no one saw it coming. The Force Awakens' version of the poor man was mysterious-like, and got the effect the "puppet-master" deserves. So many people came up with theories on who he is, and where he's from. We would expect him to be more powerful, given he was the Emperor Palpatine type character, but Rian Johnson decided to kill him, without giving him any backstory, so much so to the point JJ Abrams or whoever came up with the idea to make him a puppet of Palpatine in the new movie. #SnokeDeservedBetter
Don't get me wrong the visual and audio effects were great, and the acting would be amazing, if the writing wasn't so bad. I feel this movie tries to appeal TOO much to younger audiences, but the point of a sequel is to appease the original audience as well, not just bring in new audiences by forgetting what the title represents.
I'm sorry, but this movie was without a doubt the worst film of them all. And that's my review.
