Amazing. I loved that it was an avant garde path way to imagine a non-white Jesus. You have to hold many concepts at once throughout the movie. It challenges societal moral fiber with tough realities like brokenness, love, oppression and redemption. The soundtrack was its own, yet there was much nostalgia and influence from Black people across the diaspora. There were dance scenes, intense desire, and hard conversations. Legitimate fight scenes, gore. The brutality was undeniable. A silver lining and a transformative hope.
