People are very hard on this film, and honestly a lot of these reviews appear to be written by people who didn't watch it until the end
28 days later is, and always will be one of the best sci-fi/horror films ever made, any zombie media that appeared after this was heavily inspired by that film, and despite many having real blockbuster budgets, they still struggle to shine a light on the budget classic 28 days later, so you could imagine the sequel would struggle to compare (as many sequels do) but that depends on your expectations
However, 28 weeks later is an excellent sequel, simply in the sense that it doesn't tarnish the original. It does nothing but build on 28 days, whilst doing its own thing, and I was entertained the whole way through
As someone with immense respect for the first film, I was so ready to hate on 28 weeks the first time I watched it. And I've watched it several times since.
I think in a world so oversaturated by mediocre zombie media, people have forgotten how to enjoy the genre
28 weeks was entertaining from start to finish, and still is in 2023 - Now I'm not saying it was as groundbreaking as the first, nor am I saying it was an Oscar winning masterpiece. It isn't. It's a zombie movie, about zombies, and the people being chased by the zombies, and all I can think reading these harsh reviews is: "well, it could have been a LOT worse" and it could have
I personally enjoyed it, but to those more critical than I I say they could have left a permenant stain on an iconic British Sci-Fi classic, but they didn't. It's an acceptable sequel trying to live up to a big name
To anyone who likes this kind of thing, and doesn't have a stick up their *ss, then I thoroughly recommend this film, especially if you were left wanting more after the first
