As a lifelong fan of Superman and the DC Universe, I walked into this film with high hopes. What I got instead was a confusing, overcrowded mess that barely resembled a Superman movie at all. The plot was weak, the characters underdeveloped, and the constant political messaging felt forced and out of place.
Hollywood seems more interested in pushing agendas than telling timeless stories these days. This film tried so hard to be "modern" that it completely lost the heart and soul of what makes Superman a beloved icon. Adding the title "King" felt unnecessary and performative, not meaningful.
This didn't feel like Superman โ it felt like a parody. There was nothing heroic, inspiring, or "super" about this version of the character. The movie was all style, no substance, and lacked the emotional core that made classics like Superman: The Movie or Man of Steel memorable.
James Gunn might be a talented filmmaker, but this was not it. DC needs to go back to the drawing board โ and maybe bring in a writer who actually respects the character and its fans.
If I could give it negative stars, I would. One of the worst superhero movies Iโve ever seen. Truly disappointing.
