A good film that felt somewhat tame compared to the usual offerings of Eggers. There were scenes where I expected a real plunge into taboo like The Witch and The Lighthouse did. This lack of risk feels like a calculated effort on the part of Eggers to make a very accessible and mainstream horror, and in that he succeeded.
