As a long time BL fan since the first game release, I am completely disappointed with the choice of actors to portray the characters in this unique universe.
Starting with Lilith, all I got to say is butter-face to the max. Video game Lilith was always super cute with rounded features but the movie director decided to take a big wet s**t on someone's face and call her Lilith. Also the personality didn't quite deliver well.
Tiny Tina, one of the most quirky characters within the BL universe made to look like a dumbed-down (like on Ritalin or something?) version of the original. Video game Tiny Tina was WILD and spontaneous in nature, causing her to crack some of the funniest jokes in the games with a high-pitched voice fueled by ADHD. Movie Tina was a complete fail because she was not very enthusiastic about her role or maybe didn't spend enough time studying the character?
Roland, was not bad but... Kevin Hart is a comedian and Roland didn't have much for humor. The director CLEARLY doesn't know Roland's personality. Poor choice of actor . That's like getting Jim Carry to play the Terminator. Kevin Hart is amazing but I could not accept him for the role of Roland.
Krieg, one of my all-time favorite classes to play as in BL2 when it first came out before min-maxing end game farming with other classes. No real issues with his character in the movie other than he could've been a little more jacked, but meh. He was ok, I guess, since he didn't have to talk much.
Claptrap, I think Jack Black failed the fans by delivering us this alternate version of Claptrap. He played Borderlands in the past, he knows how he sounds more than the director does. Being a different voice made it difficult to accept the new Claptrap. Personality was a little dry as well or maybe it's just me.
Moxxi, my poor Moxxi, what have they done to her? I'm about to get real on this one. Moxxi is easily one of the hottest characters in video game history. Everything from her rounded looks, huge bosom, sexual innuendo and badass attitude when it came to handling business which made her look even hotter. I'll be honest, I rubbed one out to her once as a teen, she IS that hot :) . But sadly in the movie she is another old butter-face lady like Lilith that failed to deliver the character properly.
Tannis, I don't have to much about her if you're familiar with how she looked in the games. HUGE fail by making her an old lady (no disrespect to JLC, legend btw). In the games she reminded me of a young adult Cat Woman.
Marcus, surprisingly accurate in the movie for some reason was really not that far from the video game version. The voice, accent, humor and place in some scenes were spot on. Why only Marcus though? If they can match an actor this good for a role, why did the others fail?
Bandits, were not that deranged or psychotic in nature like they are in the games. In the movie they're too "normalized" with very little impression of being a threat of the Wasteland.
At this point I could not stand watching the movie any further and decided to leave half way through. VERY DISSAPOINTING TO SEE MY TEENAGE YEARS OF PLAYING BORDERLANDS 1, 2, PRE-SEQUEL & 3 TURN INTO THIS WOKE DEI BULLS**t!
Shame on you Eli Roth! Stick to making those straight to DVD horror flops, please, because that is pretty much what this movie is at this point.
Any review that says this movie is "great" without playing the games should be ignored completely .
