Solid acting but kind a chaotic mess. Lots of traveling between times, lots of characters, lots of impassioned speeches that are often not so easy to follow. I feel this movie tried to be everything at once: Oppenheimer as obsessed student, Oppenheimer's love life, Oppenheimer in early career launch, as director of Manhattan project, and finally the attempt to discredit him politically. To me the result was chaos - too many stories and characters at once while not doing great justice to any of them save perhaps the story of political revenge on Oppenheimer by a man who feels humiliated by him. Also, the music score constantly overpowers the movie and tells us what to feel (usually tension) instead of letting the story do that job.
I give it credit for ambition of telling this complex story and deductions for not illuminating the character all that well, just for throwing a lot of things together.
